How To Make Animal Pom Poms

However, if you are a really keen knitter, then you have definitely asked yourself the following question: “What am I supposed to do with the thread odds?” Woolen yarn, especially if it is of high quality, can be really expensive and it would be a real waste if you just throw it away in the trash bin. A very interesting fact about pom poms is that in the past they were widely used as parts of the military uniforms. Making Pom Poms
What do you need?
- Pre Cut Rug Yarn
- Scissors
- Thread
- Buttons
- Glue
How to do it?
1. Take several pieces of the pre cut rug yarn and tie it into a little bundle. Of course, make sure it is neither to loose, nor to tight. Also, use thread of the same colour as the bundle, in order to make it look as a part of it.
2. Cut the thread with scissors. Then form a small woolen ball out of your bundle. Cut the strands carefully and make sure all of them are equally long. Otherwise you will ruin the overall round shape.
3. Do the same with four more bundles, again cutting the strands very precisely.
4. Now it is time to form the head of the caterpillar. Take one of the yarn balls, three buttons and a little bottle of glue. Stick two of the buttons on the yarn ball and form the eyes of the caterpillar. Try to place them as symmetrically as possible. The third button will be for the nose, so tick it somewhere between the previous two.
And basically – that’s all! You have your brand new pom-pom caterpillar. You can hang it on the fridge or on your kid’s room. It will give a really fresh look to your home.
