Curtains Dressing For Your Windows Right
Making the windows in your home a focal point can be really simple and I’m always switching my curtains for different designs. I find that your windows are the first thing people look at when coming into your home so I like to make sure mine look nice. My friend’s always say that I change my curtains more than I change my socks! They’re such an easy thing to switch and make such a big difference to a room so I like to keep them looking fresh.
Curtains for windows really help to draw a room together and picking the right style is really important. If you’re looking for some ideas, take a look at online blogs, Pinterest and home style magazines for inspiration – I always spot some really good ideas in these places. Remember to keep in mind that when you’re choosing your curtains, you’ll need to make sure that they will complement the rest of your décor – a traditional windows curtain design wouldn’t look right in a modern home.
Selecting the right colour windows curtain is really important as this will make a massive difference to your home’s décor. A darker curtain will make a room feel smaller but if you’re opting for a luxurious look then darker curtains will work best. A lighter curtain will open the room up and make it feel fresh. Bright colours work really well for a modern home and are really in fashion at the moment.
I like to make a feature out of my curtains and there are some really vibrant patterns and colours available for curtains at the moment – they’re sure to make a room pop! If you don’t want to have your curtains as a feature and you just want curtains for practical reasons then opt for them in a neutral colour and in a plain design.
You can buy curtains in a variety of fabrics and making sure you select yours in the right material is important. Heavy curtains like chenille will make your home feel really luxurious, silk curtains will make your room feel classy and cotton curtains are great for a modern home because of the funky prints they’re available in.
You don’t have to spend a small fortune on window dressings; you’ll find some really great deals on online shops! I’m always checking back to see the latest offers and to keep up with the latest trends.
Once you’ve found the right curtains for your home, you’ll then have to pick out some complementing tie backs. Tie backs come in lots of different styles and materials, I particularly like beaded tie backs because they sparkle beautifully during the day when the light hits them. Sometimes the curtains you’re buying will come with matching tie backs in the same pattern and they look gorgeous.
The final thing I recommend you put up at your windows are net curtains. They’re fantastic because they make your home feel so much safer – they don’t allow prying eyes to see into your home but will allow you to see out.
