DIY Home Decoration Tips
There are many ways we can decorate our homes, from the luxurious to the mundane, however few of those ways can be as personal and tailored to our own tastes as Do-It-Yourself decorations can be. The following three ideas contained in this article are meant to be guidelines, not something you should consider the perfect DIY solution for home décor. Your imagination is what will serve you best in this manner, as your tastes may wildly differ from what we we lay out here. Let’s begin with the first small idea:
Glow-In-The-Dark Jars
You can create a hauntingly beautiful home decoration with the use of some simple glass jars and a bit of glowing paint. You can pick cleaned mason jars, glowing paint and some good paint brushes from an arts and crafts store. Once you wash your jars well and dry them up, you can prepare the glowing paint in such a way as its particles will be spread well. Use the paintbrush and put dots on the inside of the jars. This will be a bit of a tricky task if you don’t want to make a mess, so if you’re not sure if you can do it on the inside, you can try the outside. Placing them on the inside however will make them more sturdy and longer-lasting. Detailed tutorial here.
Chalkboard Erasable Wall Decor
If you want to combine both pragmatism and aesthetics, then this simple yet very useful project can be just the thing you need. You can start by collecting the right ingredients for the job, such as a good wooden surface, paint brushes, some plastic spoons, a mixing cup and some unsanded grout as well as half a cup acrylic paint. Measure out the grout and paint carefully and keep in mind that the grout is a fine powder, so keep your windows open or you might end up coughing and sneezing before you know it. Stir the grout and paint together until they become a smooth mixture, then paint the surface you’re aiming for. Keep in mind that the paint will dry fast, so only mix as much as you need or else you might end up throwing the rest away. Next you will need to slate the surface with chalk, then wipe it off and you’ll be ready and done.
Gelatin DIY Air Fresheners
This is a very easy project you can use to bring some fresh scents in your home, making your very own jello air fresheners. How can that be done? Well first of all you can begin by scraping together some easy ingredients that you likely have around your home right now. We’re talking about unflavored pectin or gelatin, food coloring, water, some essential oils, salt and some small bowls or glass jars. One of the greatest aspects of this project is its efficiency in terms of costs, so you can make a large amount of these, spreading them around your home as you see fit. Once their smell starts to fade you can simply make some more. There is hardly any point in buying commercial air fresheners with chemical scents when you can do this instead. Detailed tutorial here.
