How To Easily Remove Dirt From Door Handles
Door handles are among the most ignored, yet possibly dirtiest places in your home. Everybody is touching them – some with clean hands, some with dirty hands, some with paws (if you have pets) but nobody is ever cleaning them. This is quite natural because no one ever thinks about them. They are the most useful and used, yet most ignored item in your home. I imagine it’s quite lonely to a be a door handle – everyone using you yet no one ever pays attention to you. Well, that has to change. You see, door handles are a bit vengeful and even vindictive, one might say. Because you ignore them, they like to get back at you by helping the spread of germs, viruses and bacteria around your household. Their wrath, too, remains unnoticed, just like their overall existence, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not there. Today, I’m here to tell you how to escape their severe punishment and make sure that (especially in the winter), diseases don’t spread rampantly in your home. Whether we are talking about dirt or germs, it’s good to clean your door handles every once in a while. The more frequently you do it, the better. Here’s how it works.
Tools you will need
Whatever quest we’re embarking on, we always need to have the proper tools at our disposal. This may sound a bit weird to you, but you need to have proper tools in order to clean your door handles properly. Usually, it’s a good idea to either use an all-purpose cleaner, or a metal cleaner for your specific kind of door handle as far as cleaning detergents go. As for your wiping tool, any old rag would do, but I use microfiber towels because I always want the best results when I clean. Keep in mind that a microfiber towel will give you much better results if the surface of the door handle isn’t flat.
Cleaning your door handles
Cleaning your door handles is a very basic process. It requires you to use your chose detergent and wipe it off carefully with the cloth. This is at least how it sounds in theory. In practice, it’s a bit more complicated. There are a few things you should never do if you want to be able to clean the door handles properly and without the risk of damage.
One of the rules is to never use the detergent directly on the handle. If it’s in a liquid form, it will droop all over the floor and make a mess. If it’s a paste, it will pose a problem because you will probably use too much and you will have to use several rags in order to clean it.
Instead, use the detergent on the cloth. This way you can deploy the proper amount you need in order to clean the handle and avoid excesses. Clean carefully and don’t apply too much pressure. Make sure that you don’t leave scratches on the door handle. Other than that, it’s a pretty straightforward process.
There is no way special way or technique I can teach you so you will have to improvise. What I can definitely tell you is that it’s important to clean your door handles regularly. How you do it is entirely up to you.
