Easy To Prepare Natural Spray Air Freshener
Air fresheners are a nice addition to any household, especially if you’re a smoker. They can mask unpleasant odors and introduce a nice fresh scent to your home. However, there is a catch. The problem is that in most cases, air fresheners of commercial origin aren’t really the healthiest products you can use at home. They are filled with all sorts of chemicals, that, even though the label says they’re safe, you can just feel it in your lungs that something is not really right. Your nose likes it, but your lungs feel like something is really off. This is what happens when chemicals are used in many cases. The sensation that you’re not breathing right can be easily explained if you’re a smoker, but it’s highly inexplicable when you haven’t lit a cigarette in your life. And so, you prefer not to use air fresheners because you don’t like the weird sensation.
But what if I told you there is another way? What if I am to tell you that you can create an air freshener, yourself, and you wouldn’t have any difficulty in the process? What if I tell it’s really easy to do and would require no effort at all? Would you believe that? If you don’t believe me then believe the professional cleaners.
You should believe it, because I’m not joking. You can prepare an air freshener at home in just a few minutes and all you need is water, baking soda and an essential oil of your choosing. That’s it! The result will be an all natural, pleasant, green air freshener. It’s going to be cost effective and since it’s natural, it won’t cause you respiratory problems even if you’re extra sensitive. Here’s how you can do it.
The Ingredients
Sugar… Spice… And everything nice… Oh, wait, that’s another recipe. For an air freshener you will need an empty spray bottle (obviously, since you want it in a spray form). Any old empty spray bottle will do. You can even label it to look more official, if you want, although that’s obviously optional.
You will also need baking soda. Baking soda is a very strong cleaning agent and has quite peculiar chemical properties. In this case, the baking soda will both be the medium for the oil. Since oils aren’t water soluble, you will need a catalyst in order to have a reaction. This is where the baking soda comes in. It will enable the mixing reaction because it will be the medium for the oil as this is how you will deliver it to the water (more about that later).
The last ingredient is an essential oil of your choice. You can grab whatever you like, depending on the scent you want your air freshener to have.
The Mixture
Throw a table spoon of soda in a bowl (well, don’t literally throw it because you will make a mess). Then add a few drops of the oil scent you chose. Depending on how strong a scent you want, you can go from about 20 to 35 drops. Any more than that, and I feel the concentration will be too high. Mix the soda and oil in the bowl then place them in the spray bottle. Fill the bottle up with warm water (warm water will have a better reaction) and then shake it for about 15 seconds. The oils and the soda should mix with the water and you should have a natural air freshener in your hands. That’s it – simple as that.
