Eatable Valentine Love Notes

Thinking to be unique while passing the love notes this year to your love ones on the eve of valentine day? How about the idea to give eatable valentine love notes. Cheryl is going to tell, how you can make these eatable valentine love notes along with the envelop. But one thing to remember, these handmade love notes must be delivered by hand and one step further how nice it would be when your love ones taste it from your hands. 🙂

This idea will definitely add some special love and taste on this valentine day and your love one will feel as a special one. These love notes are made with modeling chocolate (aka candy clay) and is as simple to make as 1 2 3.

Items Needed:

  • A bag of Chocolate Candy Melts – White
  • Half cup Corn Syrup
  • Pink food Coloring
  • Food Writer Pens
  • Cornstarch
  • Supplies (Pyrex container, Cling wrap, Cookie sheet, Knife, Cookie/fondant cutters, Small Paintbrush)

Instructions:

You will start by making the modeling chocolate. As the modeling chocolate normally takes some hours to set so plan this well in time.

Melt the chocolate in the pyrex container in the microwave as per the instructions given on the package. To get a smooth melted paste you should stir it well otherwise it will not look like it’s completely melted. Add and mix half cup corn syrup slowly and gently until it starts to come together like a dough ball. Then spread out about half inch thick on cling wrap covered cookie sheet and top with more cling wrap. Let it sit for at least 3 to 4 hours, then knead with hands until soft like play dough (If feels necessary and it seems to be sticky then add a bit of cornstarch as per requirement).

Take a smooth surface dusted with cornstarch and Roll out the modeling chocolate about 1/4 inch thick on it. Use a knife to cut a square or for a more elongated envelope, a lopsided diamond as shown in the image below. Envelop size will depend on how big you will make the heart note.

First fold in the two sides as shown in the image below.

Now fold the bottom side up and gently press into place. Use a small paint brush to brush away any extra cornstarch from the chocolate envelop.

Add a drop of pink food coloring on the remaining modeling chocolate and blend in. Wear gloves or any other plastic bag on your hands, before blending, to avoid any dye on your hands.

If it gets stickiness add some cornstarch to it. After it is mixed it would have a bubble gum color.

Roll out to 1/4 inch thick and cut it into heart shapes using heart cutters or by hand using a sharp knife.

Using the food markers, write your love notes on it. Allow it to dry and then place the heart notes on top of the envelops. Give it to your love ones and please don’t expect these notes to be saved for a longer period of time. Most of the times these would be eaten by recipients immediately and hence they would be able to taste your love.
