Fun Ways to Beat the Rainy Day Blues Using Your Home Printer
It is easy to form the opinion that your printer is purely functional and doesn’t really offer many opportunities to create some fun when you are stuck inside out of the rain.
There is actually a lot you can do with your printer that will help you beat the boredom of a blank day and all it takes is to turn it on, install an Epson ink cartridge or whatever brand you use, and work on printing out some fun and creative projects to keep you amused for hours.
Try some paper craft
Your printer can help you to indulge in great hobby known as paper craft, which involves printing and then assembling some detailed paper models to create some interesting and attractive 3D objects.
With paper craft, you are almost only limited by your imagination and the kids can provide you with some inspiration if you want to print out and create things photo cubes, 3D cars and even some of your favourite Frozen characters like Anna and Elsa.
Create your own puzzle
Jigsaw puzzles are enduringly popular and loved by kids and grown-ups in equal measure, so why not use your printer to create your own unique puzzle?
If you use an online puzzle template like the HP Photo Creations Puzzle Templates for example, you can use your own favourite images to create a personalised puzzle that can be as simple or difficult as you want it to be, depending on age and ability.
Print a T-Shirt
To complete this project you will need to buy some heat transfer paper which is freely available. You can also buy kits which come with the T-Shirt as well but you may want to just transform something you already have, using your printer and the transfer paper which comes in an A4 size and loads into your printer in the normal way.
You can follow a tutorial if you want to see how it is done before you attempt it yourself, but it is a fairly easy project and one that kids love doing as they can create a cool T-Shirt design all by themselves, before requiring your help with the hot iron to transfer the image.
Kid’s games to download
If you have a fairly new Wi-Fi enabled printer in your house then there is a good chance that it might even have a built-in app that provides you with quick access to sites like Disney and Universal, which are packed full of activities and craft ideas to print out.
The CBeebies website is also a good site to search for the younger kids with lots of creative ideas that include projects that you can print out and you should be able to find things like colouring pages, character masks and even board games, which you can print out and create on a range of websites.
Don’t let your printer gather dust or feel unloved by only printing documents. Use it to create some fun-filled projects to beat the rainy day blues.
