Living Room Makeover Ideas
It’s springtime, and everywhere you look it’s all about changes – changing your style, changing your habits, changes in nature… Since everything around is in the process of changing, why not make a small effort and change something about your home too. It doesn’t have to be grand, doesn’t have to involve moving the walls or changing the floorboards, but even the simplest things can make a difference. If you are willing to roll up your sleeves and get down to business, here are a few easy ideas which will completely transform your living room.
Fashionable fireplace
Fireplaces are fantastic during long, cold winter days and nights, but for the rest of the year they are pretty much useless. This is why you could redecorate it and have it become the most beautiful part of your living room. The possibilities are many, you can paint it white to brighten the space up and then, if you want, add a few softer colours to it to connect it better to the rest of the living room. And if you want to have something not burning in it, have a big plant in a pot put in – this looks great and very unusual, but it draws attention and makes the whole room look better.
Use soft, warm colours
Having a few dark items in the living room can really make it look classy and sophisticated, but having too many of them will close the place up and make it look old and boring. So, instead of using too much black, navy or brown, you can break the pattern by adding soft beige, yellow or light blue to the equation. Make sure your curtains are of light fabric so the place can have more sunlight; it gives the healthier air altogether. Differently coloured cushions, rugs, and curtains ‘save the day’ if you feel like your living room is too boring.
Move your TV
Sometimes it is all about the details: colour of the curtains, type of rug on the floor, the position of the armchair. What you could do is rearrange the furniture in the room and see how the entire place really opens up. Instead on a small table in the corner of the room, put your TV on the wall to get more space. If you are not sure about doing it on your own, you can have professionals to do your TV wall mounting for you. This way, you can be sure that it will not fall down and hurt somebody.
Use your coffee table
Coffee tables are essential in every living room to put your coffee and tea cups on, to place your books on, and even your feet when you’re too tired. So why not make a small effort and turn it into an exotic ottoman instead. You will be surprised when you see what a little bit of dye, fabric and a staple gun can do. Choose the colours and the fabric patters wisely, you don’t want to end up with a fantastic ottoman which stands out too much from the rest of the room.
Living room is the centre of one’s household and it’s the place where you, your family, and your friends get together and have fun and spend quality time together. It should not be dark and gloomy, but it should invite people to sit down and relax. Getting this air and atmosphere in the room is not difficult if only you have the energy and creativity to make it happen. Make a great family project out of it and have fun while redecorating!
