Remodel your bathroom in 7 simple steps
Many people perceive the process of remodeling a bathroom a headache-provoking action. Since we are often under a lot of pressure due to the never-ending rat race that we are part of, any situation that requires an additional amount of energy is considered a real nuisance. Although we most often feel that way when something in our home has to bee fixed or changed, it is much easier if you manage to liven up a little bit and start looking positively on things. Yes, you will be paying the renovation loan for the next couple of years. Yes, it will take some time to think about it and plan all the things that need to be done. But you should look at it from the bright side – it is way much better and amusing to renovate the bathroom or the whole flat (or house) than spending that money on gambling or drugs. Also, just imagine that a serious health problem suddenly appears. In that case, all the money that you have ever earned would be almost worthless. The speed at which we live and run from job to job to ensure the basic things for a living is merciless, but affording new things or items should be looked at only as a positive way of rewarding yourself.
The bathroom is quite tricky, especially if your home is already long in the tooth and now you want to modernize it, starting from the bathroom. In the age of environmental issues and global warming, the first thing you will hear when it comes to bathroom remodeling is that you should take out the classic old bath and install a shower cabin. Shower cabins waste less water and they also take less space in the bathroom. Finally, nowadays it is almost easier and cheaper to make a shower cabin than a real bath. That is why you should really consider getting yourself a shower cabin.
Apart from the shower cabin, think what sort of shelves or cabinets you would like to place into your bathroom. Be careful when buying cabinets and always opt for those made of pure wood, rather than chipboard or plywood, since the latter two might swollen if they are in damp surroundings.
Many modern bathrooms are also equipped with a bidet, which might be handy if you have any skin problems: Problematic skin usually manifests itself on feet and toes. If you do not have any health reasons, maybe the bidet is not a real necessity.
While the bidet might not be a necessity, the basin definitely is. When buying a basin, think about the under-basin space. If the pipe inlet is high enough and the basin does not have the supporting ceramic post under it, that space can be used for a closed wooden cabinet, where various hygienic or cleaning products can be stored.
Maybe before all these steps the question of bathroom tiles should be considered. If you have been using the same tiles for more than thirty years, maybe it would be wise to replace them with new ones. The replacement should be done for both hygiene and aesthetics. Modern tiles are much more pleasant and designed in a better way than the old ones.
Whatever changes you decide to do in your bathroom, never do any pipe or water works without a professional plumber and his services and never mess with the electricity without an electrician. All the expenses that you have are minor in comparison with the fatal outcome that might happen if amateurs deal with such serious stuff.
